At the Ski Alpine World Cup in Adelboden on 11-12 January, Helvetia announced the extension of its contract with Swiss-Ski for a further five years. In addition to the Swiss Ski Association, Helvetia currently supports 16 squad athletes from the sports of Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, biathlon and ski cross as an individual sponsor. They include the two Alpine figureheads Michelle Gisin (since 2017) and Daniel Yule (since 2013), with whom Helvetia also extended the partnership.
«Sponsorship enables me, as an elite sportswoman, to live my dream and to inspire or even encourage others. None of that would be possible without sponsorship.»
What would winter sports be without our beautiful countryside and safe habitats in the Alps? The Swiss protection forest contributes to this security by protecting people, buildings, cross-country skiing trails, hiking paths and transport routes against damage caused by natural forces, such as avalanches. With its protection forest commitment, Helvetia has been supporting the planting of protection forests throughout Switzerland since 2011.
Top athlete Daniel Yule is a big fan of the Helvetia protection forest commitment. He was also the one who inspired the new charity idea: Swiss-Ski athletes are now racing in favour of the Swiss protection forest. By the end of the 2024/2025 season, all World Cup points achieved by all sports at Swiss-Ski will be added together. For each point won, one tree will be planted in a Swiss protection forest project.
«I am very happy that we as the Helvetia winter sports team can contribute to the Swiss protection forest and thus provide even greater security. The campaign will also encourage us to score World Cup points.»
However, planting a young tree alone is not enough. Until the sapling is large enough to unfold its protective function, it must be nurtured and maintained for decades.
With the "TreeBuddyPass", fans can participate in this campaign. With just CHF 15 they ensure the lifelong care of a young tree. Together with their winter sports idols, the fans are making Switzerland safer.
