Fire in the production hall: The story of a managing director who had to pull out all the stops after a fire in order to continue supplying his customers – and how Heinz Müller from Team Helvetia supported him in this.

Alarm in the middle of the night

A shrill sound from the mobile phone abruptly woke Florian K.* in the middle of the night. The fire detector in the production hall of his window construction company had gone off. Just a few minutes later, he was sitting in his car with a feeling of uncertainty as he made his way to his factory. "How bad will it be?" he wondered.

Technical fault led to fire

When he arrived at the forecourt of the factory building, the fire brigade had already begun tackling the blaze. Fortunately, the rescue workers were able to contain the fire quickly. This was thanks to the installed fire alarm system, which had already alerted not only Florian K. but also the fire brigade at the first sign of a fire.

It later turned out that a technical fault had started a fire on the wiring harness of a woodworking machine. Even though the machine itself was only slightly damaged, Florian K. quickly realized that it could lead to delays in delivery.

Hearing about the incident on the radio

In the early morning – just a few hours after the fire broke out – Heinz Müller was also sitting in his car on his way to work. The property damage expert at Helvetia was listening to the local news on the radio when he heard about a window construction company that had caught fire during the night. He quickly realized that this had to be Florian K.'s company, which is insured with Helvetia. Even before Florian K. had chance to report the damage to his insurance company, Heinz Müller had called him and offered his support.

A surprised Florian K. gladly accepted the help, and together they planned what to do next. They commissioned the repair of the wiring harness and organized the cleaning. Florian K.'s employees were able to continue with production in order to serve their own customers. And a few weeks later, the faulty wiring harness of the machine was also repaired.

Being there when it matters pays off

The damage had happened, but the speedy response of company owner Florian K. and damage expert Heinz Müller meant that the extent of the damage – the costs due to the partial loss of business – was kept to a minimum. These costs were reimbursed to Florian K. by Helvetia. However, as this story shows, the support offered by Helvetia goes far beyond merely financing claims. People like Heinz Müller are on hand to provide customers with advice and assistance when the going gets tough. Helvetia is there when it matters.
